RAKESH JOSHI: Indian Music Composer ~ Teacher ~ Singer

Gurushri: Rakesh Joshi is musically trained in India from Gurushri Dinesh Majmundar, Shri Brij Joshi and Shri Shashank Fadnis. Rakesh has taken special voice culture and vocal training from Gurushri Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty. Achieved Diploma in Indian music with distinction from Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, India and PGCE (Indian music) from the University of Huddersfield, UK.

Hindustani style music teacher: Vocal, Harmonium and Keyboards.

Artistic Director: Bharatiya Vrund Gaan (BVG-the Indian Choir of England), first Indian choir of the UK for adults and SHIVA – the youth choir of Indian music.

Artistic Director & Composer of ‘Raga Jyoti’ – The Indian Classical Music Ensemble of England
Raga Jyoti is artistically created traditional Indian music ensemble, group thirty musician’s presents especially composed traditional Indian classical, contemporary and theme music in the orchestra style. In the past, musicians of the Raga Jyoti have presented special music projects such as Divine Light, Divinity, Eternity, Akashganga and The Light beyond Millennium. Halle Youth Orchestra, RNVM musicians and talented Indian musicians of the UK have performed in the Raga Jyoti’s projects. Rakesh is specialised in singing Bhakti Sangeet (devotional songs) and Sugam Sangeet (light music).

Passionate of promoting Indian culture, music and dance education across the North-West England.

In the past, Rakesh has accompanied Harmonium, Keyboards and vocal to many world class International musicians, and worked as an arts manager with few well-known Indian arts organisations of the UK.

Rakesh has given background music for the Indian television channels, dances and many audio albums. He used to be well-known Radio Broadcaster in Manchester Asian Radio Stations.

Favourite Music: Classical themed music based on the nature, divine chants and songs, classic Bollywood songs and the western symphony.
